We are often told by the Moms and Dads in our lives that they wish they had more family pictures to remember all of the different stages of their family throughout their lives. The truth is, I think we all neglect to do this. Life gets in the way - we understand.
Even Seb and I have to admit we fall victim. Schedules get complicated, basketball practice and late office meetings run back-to-back far too often. Daily errands turn into chores, and at the end of the day you just want to lay on the couch and eat some Ben & Jerry's. Let's face it, if we continue down this path the kids will be done with high school, graduated from college, and onto marriage and raising their own children before we know it!
We admit we've neglected taking as many family photos as we would have liked - but I must say that we did make sure to sneak in about 2-3 photoshoots each year. We always tried to do this because the memories we create while taking family photos are priceless. They are tiny glimpses of special memories that we have displayed as art on our walls, that we know we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
It's not everyday that we get dressed up, feel good, and connect on a deeper level with the people we love most - and we think everyone needs more of this! When was the last time you took a professional photograph with one of your children? A significant other? Siblings? Better yet, how about your parents?!
Almost every person that visits our house comments on our family portraits! We hear often, "OMG, were those taken downtown? We'd love to visit that restaurant!!" My heart lights up whenever this happens, because the memories from that moment wash over me all over again. The smell of the pasta we were about to devour, the way the sunlight was setting just right over my husband’s face, the excitement in my children’s faces; and without these portraits, those precious memories would be lost!
"Displaying photos prominently in the home sends the message that our family and those in it are important to one another, and we honor the memories we have experienced," says Cathy Lander-Goldberg, a licensed clinical social worker and a professional photographer in St.Louis, Missouri.
The thing is - family portraits are important because they make sure special parts of your life with your amazing family won’t ever be forgotten. These little moments count the most because they'll come and go so fast! It's our job to capture them for you, and this Mother's Day we've developed the perfect way to help you do this.
We are reserving two Saturdays - May 14th and May 21st - to host family mini-sessions all day long at our studio. Since these sessions will be extra special, we created a unique Mother's Day backdrop to give your images a fresh, joyful feel. A yellow wall with a white chair rail gives the feel of being in a comfortable home environment, paired with a floral wall to bring a bright and airy feeling to your session.
Here's a little glimpse to give you a sense of the style we'll be working with. We are so excited to see all of your families, and we're booking up very quickly! Currently, we only have 12 more sessions available, and they are going fast. Reserve your session now by clicking below.
We want to make getting amazing family portraits easy for you, so when you reserve your session...
- We'll send you a style guide to help you coordinate outfits for the shoot.
- You'll also receive a complimentary 8 x 8 Matted Print, as a thank you for choosing Sebastian Photography to capture your family’s special moments.
- Also, we wanted our Mom + Me campaign to make an impact on women everywhere, not just the women we know, so a portion of all session proceeds will be donated to the Global Fund for Women.
More to come on these details soon. We can’t wait to see you and your family soon!!
