David is originally from CT, while Chad is originally from Ohio. He moved around a bit for work, eventually ending up in CT and the rest is history!
Chad proposed to David on the 1 year anniversary of their first date which was May 4th in Wooster Sq Park, near where David lived. Chad used his late mother's engagement ring, had it melted and recast at a jeweler's into an engagement ring. After that, David wanted to return the favor and had an inch taken off his gold necklace given to him by his late grandfather, and recast into a ring for Chad. At the wedding, they both took these engagement rings from their right hands and switched to their left hands, as their now wedding rings.
David and Chad had been to Mystic Aquarium several times, and though they had several ideas for a venue, they ultimately knew they’d love having it at the Aquarium. Years earlier, the couple did an immersion experience with the beluga whales where they got to put on waders and step into the pool to feed the whales, so the location already had sentimental value.
The color scheme was navy blue with “beach-like” decor including coral and seashells. They kept everything relatively simple overall as the main focus was on all the Aquarium had to offer, including penguins that guests could interact with during the cocktail hour!
Another special touch was having their ceremony in front of the beluga whales. Chad is shy and so the whales got to absorb some of the spotlight for him!
David and Chad planned a quick honeymoon to Key West FL, but hope to travel to Europe soon for a “Honeymoon 2.0.”
This was such a special and fun wedding; thank you so much for having us! Congrats to the happy couple!
