Did you know we do destination engagement photoshoots?! There is a lot of planning that goes into a destination shoot so here's three tips to help you plan your perfect destination photoshoot.

1. Research/Permits

When Paliny and Rigels decided they wanted to go to Arizona for their engagement session, we started googling parks and iconic locations. The internet is the best way to scout out the perfect location you're looking for. We all fell in love with Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. This is however, where it gets tricky. Some parks require permits in order to shoot on their land. In our case we were looking to shoot on Navajo land so we needed not only permits but also a guide. Make your arrangements at least 6 months in advance. Permits can take several weeks to be approved and spots for guided tours fill up extremely fast. Also from our experience it is sometimes hard to get ahold of the appropriate people so you want to be sure to have a buffer of time to get everything in order. Also check with your photographer about the best time of day for your shoot before booking your time slot.

2. Maximize you Photography Opportunities

If you're already paying for a hotel, you might as well find a place that works as one of your locations. Instead of booking a mundane hotel room, try searching for a location on airbnb that has character. After shooting in vast desert landscapes we got a completely different feel when we got back to the airbnb for some twilight photos.

3. Wardrobe

You're going to a unique location for an epic photoshoot, so make sure you bring plenty of options. (It's better to have too much than not enough). We love long flowy dresses ladies! They are so flattering and look absolutely amazing in photographs. They work great at the beach, in the desert or really anywhere. We highly recommend a clothing consultation before any engagement shoot so we can share our styling expertise with you and give suggestions. We want you to look and feel your best the day of your shoot.
