Ashley and Deondre’s love story began back in 2007 when they met at a car dealership. Ashley had gone in to buy a car and Deondre was the finance manager. At the time, Ashley was in another relationship but once Ashley had left the dealership, Deon told his coworker that he would marry her one day. Just a few years later, he reached out to her when she least expected someone to come along in her life. The two of them reconnected and have been together ever since. (Deon even called his coworker to inform him about the engagement and reminded him of their conversation at the dealership. We love that!)
Ashley invited us to begin the day at her mothers house where we photographed her getting ready. It was wonderful to be welcomed into her mothers home which had such a warm and personal atmosphere filled with glowing light - much like her personality. We snuck away to the loveliest bridge in their backyard where Deondre proposed to Ashley. He set up their kids with signs reading "Will You Marry Me?" in hand for Ashley to discover. It made for a truly personal backdrop.
Deondre and his groomsmen got ready at The Fox Tower at Foxwoods Casino, which had a clean and sophisticated backdrop. The ceremony and reception was held at Lake of Isles in North Stonington, CT. We were really touched during the ceremony when Ashley, Deondre, and their children poured different colored sand together in one container to represent the joining of their family. You could feel the genuine love between their families, they couldn't stop smiling!
